, the sequel to 2016's The Division has been announced recently in a blog by Julian Gerighty, Creative Director, Massive Entertainment. Massive Entertainment is the developer behind the first installment and they will be working on the sequel along with Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Bucharest (phew! that's quite a load of people).

The fact that The Division has been getting a healthy dose of updates regularly shows that the game is still loved by many and has resulted in Ubisoft green-lighting a sequel. The game will be built using an enhanced version of Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine, which was used to make the first game.

In anticipation of the game, a new achievement system called Shields has been introduced. When players earn these "Shields" they essentially unlock additional rewards in The Division 2 when it launches.

That is about all we know for now but more will be revealed at E3 2018 which will happen in June.
