Episodic sci-fi game Elea receives 6th major update increasing FPS limit and hint systems

The people behind the sci-fi adventure "Elea" have been constantly listening to feedback from gamers and have thus released the sixth major update for the game. The game has been in Early Access since end of April, which has already resulted in an abundance of useful feedback from the community and previewers. The final version of "Elea - Episode 1" is releasing this summer for Xbox One and Steam.

In order to make the gameplay more engaging and user friendly the movement speed has been increased and numerous hints and objectives have been added. Additionally, a brand new hint system was introduced, giving the player more detailed objective information.  A “how to play” help screen has been added to guide players as well, accessible from the settings menu and at the start of the game. Another major improvement is that the FPS limit has been improved, now enabling up to 120 FPS, making the game run even more smoothly. Also, better screen space reflections have been added, in order to improve the graphical performances and make the surreal world of Elea look even more gorgeous.

Elea is being developed by Kyodai and published by SEODESCO and is an episodic sci-fi story telling adventure with particularly good soundtrack (as we noted in an earlier article). Marten Buijsse, Community Manager at SOEDESCO said, “Since the Early Access launch we have received a lot of community feedback and we’re very happy that so many people wanted to pitch in and help. The game has made great progress in these few months, but we’re not done yet! For the remainder of the Early Access period we will continue to update the game in accordance with player feedback, all the way until we have a perfect version 1.0.”

Purple Lamp is a new studio that consists of veteran developers, who have worked on various titles before at Austrian publisher/developer Sproing, among others. The new studio will will solve any problems as well as integrate planned features such as multiplayer, societies and the sovereign-mechanic into the game in the following months. Harald Riegler, CEO of Purple Lamp said, "The Guild is a fantastic franchise and we're proud to contribute both our experience and our personal passion for strategy games to deliver the game that fans are hoping for."

Jean-RenĂ© Couture, CEO GolemLabs Studios Inc. added, "For the past few years, the folks here at GolemLabs had the huge honor to work on The Guild 3. However, the very last remaining stretch of development will be done under the care and reigns of THQ Nordic. So, from now on, GolemLabs will eagerly and proudly be waiting for the release of The Guild 3. For us here at GolemLabs, it is time to embark on new and exciting adventures."

It seems that GolemLabs had some issues with the later stage development and publisher THQ Nordic decided to call in a new team. The Guild series have consisted of games that are set in medieval times where the player takes control of a regular person and work their way up to building an empire. The Guild 2 was released all the way back in 2006 and now the sequel is available on steam as part of Early Access.

"It's high noon...i mean, Sky Noon!"

Independent game developer Lunar Rooster and indie games partner Reverb Triple XP have officially announced that 'Sky Noon' will be launching into Steam’s Early Access program in Q2 2018. This first person shooter has been set in a quirky Wild West set high in the sky.

Taking place in a reinvented Wild West universe where the frontier floats among the clouds, powerful cartels crave to control the most precious resource in the west: water. Players take the role of hired gunslingers that battle opposing fighters across floating islands in the sky.
There are no health meters in Sky Noon; instead, to eliminate enemies, players use various super-power compressed air weapons to send them flying over the bounds of land and into the abyssal sky. The game gets a host of equipment like:

  • Grappling hooks
  • Lassos
  • Steam-powered jetpacks
  • Jump pads
  • Teleporters

Sky Noon is the two year long adventure started by lead designer Craig Taylor who, along with the other “core four” of Lunar Rooster, began creation of the game while studying game development at Auckland’s Media Design School in New Zealand.

“The feeling of bringing your first video game project to life is absolutely surreal and amazing,” states Craig Taylor, lead developer of Lunar Rooster. “The idea was really simple – let’s make a first person shooter that felt familiar, yet different. We’re delighted that there’s gamers that wanted this type of experience and the team is really looking forward to the feedback from players to improve Sky Noon during the Early Access development.”

Soul switching, dungeon crawling, beat 'em up game, Soul Grabber launched on Steam

Soul Grabber game by Masthead Studios launched

Indie game developer, Masthead Studios is launching their beat’em up dungeon adventure game 'Soul Grabber' on PC today. The game is available on the Steam and while it has been priced $1.99 (Rs 85), you can get it for just Rs 75 if you buy it before February 5. The game is currently still under development and is available under the Early Access program.

The looks of the game are sure to bring some nostalgia to the player, mixing 3D elements with a 2D canvas. While the setting is grim, the scenery is odly colourful (and we liked that!). Soul Grabber mixes the quintessential button hitter formula with randomized dungeon crawling and exploration. Play the role of an archeologist who is trapped in a devastated universe and possess the body of your skillful enemies – deadly beasts, fearsome demons and many other gruesome creatures– to find the way to break the spell.
