All we know about notmycar, as of now

Recently we published an article about an upcoming PUBG like battle royale game called notmycar. The game got introduced to the world via a mixer livestream by Greenskull who is closely tied with the game. Through the (slightly delayed) stream we got a good chunk of information on what we can expect from the game when pre-alpha testing begins!

You can sign-up to be a part of the pre-alpha testing by heading to this link - http://www.notmycar.com/
We take an in-depth look and tell you all that we know about notmycar game

What we know about notmycar:

1) Pre-alpha testing should begin in a week's time (hopefully)

While there is no official date for when the pre-alpha begins, the devs do hope to get it started in about a week's time if all goes as planned (which we hope it does).

2) PUBG like mechanics

We take an in-depth look and tell you all that we know about notmycar game

PUBG players will feel at home while playing notmycar due to the various mechanics they share and that is not essentially a bad thing. The objective of this battle royale is to survive till the end. How you do it is up to you, whether you wreck others or just hide till the rest of the players do the dirty work for you (although the later seems highly unlikely with a V4 under the hood). There is a wall that contracts periodically and staying out of its perimeter results in health loss. But a good thing with notmycar is that you play as a car, a fast car, that can catch up with the wall should you find yourself outside of its protection.
As you land on the map you will find loot stashes that will grant you things like armors, weapons, repair kits etc. You can also loot things from dead players and get them from loot crates dropped by a chopper every now and then. Couple of things worth mentioning are the Super boost, cloaking ability, mines and EMPs.

3) A fun filled game lobby (and a 'horn-y' flight after)

While you wait for the match to begin, you are in the lobby area which, as stated in the stream, evolved from a plain ground to a ramp housing stunt-o-mania. So you can have some fun before the intense match begins by doing sweet flips mid-air and ramming other cars for some cool and funny looking physics play. The physics do look a little wobbly as of now but given that this is pre-alpha, it just might change for the better. But we are not really complaining as the current physics are great at getting a good laugh from the people, a bit like GTA IV did back when it came out. Anyone else remember the swing glitch, eh?
As stated in the previous point, the game shares two more elements with PUBG, the first one being that you start the match by parachuting your car out of a plan and that looks pretty damn cool! What is not cool is that with this plane mechanic you also get the noise making practice seen in PUBG. So while in PUBG you have to have a mic to scream while in the plane, notmycar relies on the honk key to do the same thing. (I'm bailing out early in all my matches when I play)

4) 2 view modes

The game has 2 viewing modes currently a first person mode and a third person mode. This is great as some people have the habbit of playing a car based game in first person. There is, however, no cockpit mode as of now but that could or could not be added at a later stage.

5) Spectate mode with free cam

In case you lose you can still engage yourself with the game by entering teh spectate mode. The spectate mode lets you see through the eyes of the other players who are still in the game. What is cool however is that there is also a free cam so you are able to move at your own discretion and not be tethered to a car all the time. You can move horizontally as well as vertically which will surely make some screenshot buffs roll their tongues out!.

6) Game over - what do you meme?

Another amusing thing we encountered in the game was the screen that you get once the match is over. In case you lose, be prepared to face an insulting yet funny text that reads "YOU HAD ONE JOB...AND YOU FAILED".

7) The graphics look promising

One thing that everyone in the livestream chat was all praise about are the graphics. Despite the pre-alpha state the game is in, it looks fantastic with some great shading on the landscape. With some working and time this game could become a heaven for getting screenshot wallpapers. The only thing we wish is that the optimization is good so that people get not just a good looking experience but also a smooth playing experience.

8) Vehicle Customization

There will be a lot of vehicle customization in the game, some of them being unlockable. Customization include general stuff like paintjobs for the body and wheel. But there are some interesting options to tinker with, like flags, antennas and hood ornaments. There is a phoenix hood ornament that gets a nice animated flame-like texture on it. During the stream Greenskull asked for more suggetions for ornaments and antennas and there were some pretty crazy suggestions such as a show, hat, oil barrel, target and more. You can also get a variety of flags to put on your vehicle. These flags can either be of a country (no Indian flag as of now :( ) or get some themed flags like the pirate one, NCM, Greenskull etc.

9) 32 player cap per match (as of now)

Currently there can be a maximum of 32 players in a given match which is less than what PUBG offers but remember these are big, fast cars that we are dealing with. So 32 feels quite decent. Of course there might be an increase in that number as the development progresses.

10) Controller support coming soon

PC is the only platform supported by notmycar and there it does not work with a controller but that will change as there will be controller support soon enough. The developes might also look into porting the game to consoles.
