Video game trailers are becoming better and better rivaling the intricacies of a big budget Hollywood blockbuster. Thus every now and the we come across some gems that stay within our memory regardless of how the actual game turns out.
Here are 5 video game trailers you need to see
1) Need For Speed The Run - Michael Bay TV Commercial
Need For Speed The Run was a remarkable game in the NFS series as it let you step out of the car form the first time in the series. The cross country setting made for some really diverse locales and thrilling race experiences. EA went to Director, Michael Bay who is known for his big budget action movies like the Transformers series, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor to name a few. They asked Michael Bay to direct a TV Commercial for the game and the result was a heart pumping, explosion and style filled trailer
2) Battlefield 1
While the full trailer for Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare got what seemed like an 'infinite' amount of dislikes on YouTube, the Battlefield 1 trailer saved the day for FPS lovers. The short reveal trailer had in-game footage showing the steampunk like alternate World War I stetting, with planes, tanks and flamethrowers synchronized to the Glitch Mob remix of 'Seven Nation Army' by The White Stripes. Combine that with the last shot of a giant blip in the sky and you have a level of epic-ness that only a few reach.
3) Batman Arkham Knight
The closing entry of the Arkham series of video games for Batman developed by Rocksteady studios had a lot going for its trailer. The realization that it was Batman's last outing for the series, seeing the Dark Knight trilogy inspired Batmobile in action and the hard hitting voiceover of Thomas Wayne, father of Bruce Wayne, as he reads the lines from his will. The stark contrast yet similarity in what Thomas says while Bruce gets dressed as Batman is truly applause worthy.
4) Assassin's Creed Revelations
Another last game for a main protagonist, Assassin's Creed Revelations had what we personally consider as one of the best trailers. This trailer also had a lot of emotions attached to it as long time fans of the series knew that their beloved Ezio had now become old and was still looking to find answers about the brotherhood and as such is lead to Masyaf, where the brotherhood was during the time of Altair. There he is attacked by a great many soldiers and all this while Woodkid's Iron is being played in the background with its lyrics perfectly outlining the life and emotion of Ezio.
5) World Of Warcraft: Wrath Of The Lich King
The third expansion for World Of Warcraft, the most played MMORPG ever, was Wrath Of The Lich King. It is still considered as one of the best expansions for the game. With each WoW expansion Blizzard launched a cinematic that knock the socks off of a lot of other trailers of the time and Wrath Of The Lich King was no different. The trailer is yet another example of juxtaposition of the narrative and visuals. The majestic setting of snow covered Northrend and celtic music theme, you literally get chills down the spine and then the trailer transitions into epic orchestral chants as Sindragosa rises from its snowy grave and takes flight again. The trailer still sends shivers down our spine even after all these years.
Also if you want to know the name of the music used in the cinematic, it is 'Arthas, My Son'.
